    How long you have been in your current role?

    Since December 2011

    Career background?

    I’ve worked in building societies my entire career in roles ranging from sales, compliance, risk management and governance to operations

    Why did you join Earl Shilton Building Society?

    I joined because of the opportunity I was given to lead and run a well-respected building society

    What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?

    The wide variety of the role ranging from strategy and oversight to speaking to members

    Hobbies and Interests outside of work?

    I’m a Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) and a rugby union referee

    How long you have been in your current role?

    Since September 2022

    Career background?

    My career has always been PA/Office Manager roles for both large international and smaller local businesses.  In 2017 I was given the opportunity to move into a purely HR focussed role having had some involvement with HR on a smaller scale.  This has always been something I’ve enjoyed.   In 2019 I achieved my CIPD Level 3 and in July 2021 I obtained my Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management

    Why did you join Earl Shilton Building Society?

    I see this role as a great opportunity to develop and take my career in a new direction, use the skills I’ve learnt as well as bringing a solid ER and recruitment skillset to the Society.  Everyone is fully committed to the Society and I’m really excited to be part of it

    What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?

    The people, they’re committed to the Society and to making a difference in the local area and take great pride in what they do.  It really feels like family; supportive, passionate and a genuinely great environment to be in

    Hobbies and Interests outside of work?

    My down time is spent with my family.  I have a daughter and we have a beautiful Cocker Spaniel puppy called Cooper so we spend a lot of time walking him (he loves the beach!).  I love live music, comedy and the theatre – all of which I try and do as often as possible

    How long have you been in your current role?

    Since September 2014

    Career background:

    I have worked in sales, marketing and underwriting for a number of financial services firms, including two other regional building societies

    Why did you join esbs?

    I was delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join a building society committed to its mutual values which is thriving due to the sound and prudent way in which it is being managed

    What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?

    The staff and dealing with intermediaries and customers. This is in addition to contributing to setting strategic objectives as part of the management team

    Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

    I enjoy spending time with my family, DIY and running

    How long have you been in your current role?

    Since April 2016

    Career background:

    Over 25 years IT experience from working in a variety of IT service delivery roles in both the public & private sectors. Prior to joining the Society, I worked for the Leicestershire County Council IT Service Management Team, with responsibility from managing problems, suppliers, performance and service improvement projects

    Why did you join the esbs?

    I was attracted to the Society as they are a long standing, professional society that still maintains a customer & community focus

    What is it about working at the Society that you enjoy the most?

    I enjoy the variety of tasks my role provides and being part of a team that all share a common objective

    Do you have any hobbies or interests out of work?

    I enjoy motorsports, particularly rallying which I have followed since the early eighties, mountain biking, walking and trying to keep fit. I also have a love for Cornwall, pasties and surfing

    How long have you been in your current role?

    Since June 2019

    Career background?

    I started my career in telecommunications, moving into the construction industry and then most recently into high street retail

    Why did you join esbs?

    I have always had a keen interest in financial services, and hoped that I would get the opportunity to work in the sector at some point. As I am from the local area, I was familiar with the Society and the excellent reputation it has as an employer. This together with the focus on customer service, and the interesting nature of the role led me to join the Society

    What is it about working at esbs which you enjoy most?

    The fact that we are here to serve our members, and offer them the best service that we can. My colleagues have also been very welcoming and the working environment is excellent

    Hobbies and interests outside of work?

    I enjoy going to the gym and playing snooker, along with spending time with my family and friends

    How long have you been in your current role?

    Since October 2014

    Career background:

    I worked for HM Revenue & Customs for two years prior to joining the Society in 1987 as a cashier/clerk then progressed through the Society to become Investment Administration Controller for several years and then Customer Services Controller overseeing both savings and mortgages within the Society. I was then promoted to Customer Services Manager in October 2014

    Why did you join esbs?

    Career progression from HM Revenue & Customs

    What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?

    Being able to treat the Society’s members as individuals and not just as numbers. The variety of work that the role covers and working within a small mutual building society

    Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

    Socialising and spending time with family and friends. You can find me and my husband on a Sunday morning on the football field watching our two sons play for their local teams

    How long have you been in your current role?

    Since August 2019

    Career background?

    I qualified as an chartered accountant in 2007 and worked for Barclays Bank (both in the UK and abroad) before joining the Society in 2016

    Why did you join esbs?

    To contribute to a building society who promote saving and home ownership which align with my values. I was also, and continue to be, impressed by the skills and character of the staff at the Society

    What is it about working at esbs which you enjoy most?

    Supporting the success of the Society through financial analysis and strategic decision making

    Hobbies and interests outside of work?

    I enjoy running, swimming and cycling and have competed in triathlons. I am also a member of a sailing club in Wanlip and am hoping to start sailing more

    I joined the Society in September 2013

    Career background

    My background has been in both retail and financial services

    Why did you join esbs?

    I had the skills for the role and knew I could develop further, it was part time and local and would fit in with my children

    What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?

    I enjoy working for a small and friendly society. No two days are the same, regulations and rules are forever changing which brings new challenges to the role

    Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

    Mum to 3, walking and travel,  gym and running and Leicester City Football Club
