The poll results for August are in…
The earlier you open up a building society or bank account for your child, the better – that’s the message which came through resoundingly from our latest monthly poll.
Over three quarters of those who responded told us they would, or did, open up a building society or bank account for their child within the first five years.
A further 13% would open an account for their children before they had left primary school.
A combined 9%, however, said they would wait until their child was at least 10 years old before opening an account, with half of those preferring to wait until their child had reached age 15.
Nevertheless, the verdict from our members was clear – if you’re putting money aside for your children, you should start as soon as you can.
