A popular beer festival hosted by the Blaby branch of an international service club has received sponsorship from esbs.
The Society has pledged its support to the second annual Leicester Lions Beer Festival, which is due to take place in the village of Cosby on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September.
The event, which is expected to see almost 2,000 festival goers enjoying a selection of more than 70 real ales and ciders, as well as a range of wines and gins, is being overseen by the Blaby and District Lions Club.
Established in 1987 and comprising approximately 10 members, the branch dedicates its efforts to serving the community through charitable activities and events in support of local worthy causes.
Les Szabo, Event Manager for Leicester Lions Beer Festival, said: “The branch was first set up to carry out good deeds across the Blaby district, and even recently we have run events for elderly people living in the area.
“The festival was first held last year and proved to be a huge success, so we are expecting big things once again from this year’s event.”
All proceeds from the festival are set to go to Prostaid, a Wigston-based charity that works to provide information and counselling to people living with prostate cancer and prostate disease, as well as their families.
“We are thrilled to be supporting Prostaid this year, especially as many of the people who will be in attendance are likely to know someone who has been affected by prostate cancer or prostate disease in some way.
“It’s also fantastic to have the support of organisations such as esbs, who play such an important role in getting the entire event off the ground, and the money that they have donated will helptowards covering the various costs involved.”
Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “We are very happy to be sponsoring this year’s Leicester Lions Beer Festival.
“The work that the group does plays an important role in offering charitable aid to the people of the Blaby district, and the festival is a fantastic fundraising opportunity to help the important work carried out by Prostaid.”
The Leicester Lions Beer Festival 2019 will take place in the Victory Show Marquee at Lakeside Lodge, Croft Road, Cosby, Leicestershire, LE9 1SG, between 5pm and 11pm on Friday 13th September and between 12pm and 11pm on Saturday 14th September.
In addition to the selection of drinks on offer, the event will feature live music throughout, as well as a range of fast food stalls.
Tickets can be purchased in advance of the event via the website for £4, or on the door for £5, with 10% off the cost of beer for card-carrying CAMRA members.
