Building society sponsorship keeps cricket club kitted out

Leicestershire-based building society, esbs, has committed to the second year of a sponsorship deal with a local youth cricket team.

The three year sponsorship package will help towards the cost of new, esbs-branded shirts for Barwell Cricket Club’s under 11s and under 13s teams, and also to provide additional playing uniforms.

Founded in 1807, Barwell Cricket Club is a non-profit organisation affiliated with the England & Wales Cricket Board via the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League, and is overseen by a committee that is elected at each Annual General Meeting.

Its vision is to encourage more people, of all ages and genders, within the local community to get involved in playing cricket, and lists the development of its junior teams among its core values.

Club Chairman, Geoff Hines Snr, said “It’s fantastic to keep the youngsters supplied in the proper kit. Not only does this help the team members to bond with each other, but it means they’re able to look the part too.

“Having local businesses like esbs on board means everything to us, especially in the form of longer-term commitment, and it’s always good to see people are willing to support us as donations such as this can really help out with the club’s standing.”

Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “As keen cricket supporters at esbs, we are thrilled to continue our sponsorship of Barwell Cricket Club.

“Sport is a fabulous means of bringing people with shared interests together, and Barwell is lucky to have such a well-established and respected cricket club.

“We hope that this sponsorship will improve the equipment available to those involved with the club, and that it will encourage more people to join up.”
