Earl Shilton Building Society is sponsoring two community events in Leicestershire towns.
The Society, which has branches in Earl Shilton and Barwell, donated to the recent Market Bosworth Festival and will also be supporting the upcoming Barwell Carnival financially as part of its ‘In the community’ fund.
The Building Society’s contribution to the Market Bosworth Festival covered, amongst other things, the cost of printing 20,000 copies of the programme. Its sponsorship of the Barwell Carnival, meanwhile, will go towards the costs of the Royal Float, in which the ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the carnival will be paraded.
The Market Bosworth Festival ran over three weeks from June 11th to July 2nd, in which it celebrated its fourteenth year. The annual festival aims to showcase local art, music and drama, whilst offering young and aspiring performers the opportunity to reach a wider audience.
This year’s Barwell Carnival parade will take place on Saturday 20th August, featuring a Scottish pipe band, floats and a variety of performers, with all profits returning to the local community. August’s event marks the 70th consecutive annual carnival in Barwell.
Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of Earl Shilton Building Society, said: “The sponsorships continue our long-standing tradition of active engagement within the local communities we serve.
“These two events are always popular with our staff and customers alike, and we are delighted to be extending our support to them.”
Market Bosworth Festival’s Steve Sargent said: “This festival would not be possible without the contributions of our sponsors and supporters. We gratefully acknowledge their help in enabling the Market Bosworth Festival to achieve its aim of ‘celebrating the arts’ in all its forms in our community.”
Barwell Carnival’s field/parade manager Beverley Robinson said: “We would like to thank Earl Shilton Building Society and everybody who has offered support. Without them there would not be a carnival.”
Earl Shilton Building Society also provides support to good causes through its ‘In the community’ fund. Any local group in the Earl Shilton and Barwell areas interested in taking advantage of the fund can apply via the Society’s website. Requests will be reviewed regularly with a decision made on individual merits and funding availability.
All types of community groups, charitable organisations, teams, clubs and schools can take part. To ensure the scheme remains truly local, applications will only be accepted from postcodes beginning with LE, CV9 to CV13 or DE11 to DE15.
