A Leicestershire-based building society has teamed up with a legal services provider to offer its members a brand new Will writing facility. esbs, also known as Earl Shilton Building Society, has agreed with Accord Legal Services Ltd for its members to receive a Single Will at a price of £40, or Mirror Wills for £80.
The new service, which is provided in conjunction with the nationally recognised firm – an affiliate of the Institute of Professional Will writers – is available to members of the Society who are over the age of 18.
Single Wills are for individuals not in relationships who want to state their wishes for their estate, while Mirror Wills are for couples who intend to leave everything to each other and then to their chosen beneficiaries.
In addition to this, the partnership also means that members can now receive estate planning advice to include the importance of Lasting Powers of Attorney and help with handling matters following a bereavement. The service is tailor made to their individual circumstances, and can be offered either in-branch or, if preferred, within the comfort of their own home. The initial advice is without charge and there is no obligation to take any of the services advised. However, there may be charges for these other services if the members wish to progress with them.
Sarah Williams, Director for Accord Legal Services, said: “Accord is extremely proud to have formed a partnership with esbs to help and support its members with all their estate planning needs.
“Accord is committed to raising awareness of the importance of planning ahead and how, by doing so, we can help families protect family assets and ensure they pass to loved ones with minimal loss or delay.
“We offer free home consultations at flexible times and are committed to making access to legal services both convenient and affordable.”
Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Accord Legal Services Ltd to give members the opportunity to get their Will and estate planning in order.
“Having a Will is vitally important for anyone who holds even modest amounts of capital, as it determines how their assets will be distributed and ensures that their family and loved ones are provided for once they’re gone.
“Therefore, I would encourage all eligible members to consider taking full advantage of this service.”
The Society offers a number of other member benefits offered to include its Recommend a friend initiative, whereby a payment of £200 is made to any member who recommends the Society to someone who takes a new mortgage with esbs, and the new mortgage customer also receives £200.
