Homes for Ukraine

esbs is supportive of the government’s Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship scheme, which will enable homeowners across the UK to provide accommodation in their own home to refugees fleeing the war.

Our trade body, the BSA, is working closely with the government as the scheme details are finalised, with the objective of it being implemented as quickly and simply as possible, enabling homeowners to participate easily.

It is important that any esbs borrower looking to participate in the scheme lets us know once the Ukrainian National has had their visa application approved, and before the Ukrainian National arrives at your property.

If you are currently experiencing financial difficulties, or anticipate doing so, we advise you to think carefully before applying for this Scheme, and refer to the Money Helper Website for free and impartial money guidance.

You may also need to inform your buildings/contents insurer of your intention to house Ukrainian refugees but your cover will remain the same. A statement from The Association of British Insurers (ABI) can be found here.

Please keep an eye on the government guidance and FAQ which we anticipate will continue to develop over the next few weeks.
