esbs, or Earl Shilton Building Society, has shared the results of its online In the Community scheme for the final quarter of 2021. The scheme enables two local charities to receive a share of £500 each quarter, based on the number of votes they receive on the esbs website.
esbs-2553 – Chief Executive Paul Tilley
esbs concluded 2021 by donating £145 to Steps and £355 to Women’s Aid Leicester.
Voting for In the Community 2022 kicks off with Bodie Hodges Foundation and Alex’s Wish.
The Bodie Hodges Foundation was established to support families who have been bereaved of a child of any age and to promote organ donation after the Hodges family tragically lost their 10-month old son Bodie in 2013, but were able to provide hope and life to four other children through organ donation. The foundation provides a range of services that support grieving families living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and is only possible through fundraising.
Alex’s Wish raises vital funds towards eradicating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle-wasting, genetic disorder that affects one in every 3,500 boys born. Alex’s Wish was set up by Emma and Andy Hallam (parents to Alex) in late 2012 to help raise vital funds to help bring about new treatments and ultimately a cure for this devastating condition. Since then, they’ve invested £400,000 in scientific research and another £90,000 into clinical research infrastructure, working closely with Duchenne UK.

Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “We’re very pleased to be supporting more valuable causes through In the Community in 2022, especially when they’ve made an impact to the people in our community so I look forward to being made aware of more local charities we can support at esbs.”
