Heart Link was selected as Charity of the Year for its personal connection to Jodie Maguire, Compliance Assistant at esbs, whose family was helped by the charity when her niece, Ellie, passed away from a heart attack in 2019 at the age of 13.
Colleagues at the Society brought their best red outfits and raised a total of £98.69 on what would have been the eve of Ellie’s 15th birthday.
Jodie said, “I am really happy that esbs has decided to support this amazing charity so I can keep my nieces memory alive through all the fundraising we do, and more families can get the help and support that they need and deserve.”
2021 marks the 40th anniversary of Heart Link, which was established in 1981 as a support group for parents and families who had a child suffering from a heart defect.
Since then, they’ve become increasingly committed to improving facilities for their young patients, their families and providing much needed valuable medical equipment at Leicester’s Glenfield Hospital.
Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “We are delighted to contribute to Jodie’s efforts in supporting Heart Link. As well as our dress down day, esbs also made a donation linked to our recent AGM voting, and we pay £3 to the charity for each Customer Feedback questionnaire received. Our local community is massively important to us at esbs and knowing we’re helping a charity who supported our colleague is invaluable.”
