Purchasing your first home is a huge milestone in many people’s lives, and it is often preceded by a long and challenging road.
However, the journey that some take to get their foot on the property ladder can be much lengthier than others, and they might find themselves reaching this life goal later than they had expected.
In April, we asked people at what age they were, or expect to be, when buying their first home.
An overwhelming 61% of those who took part in the poll said they had been or anticipated being between the ages of 18 and 25 when purchasing their first property, contradicting recent concerns about home buying amongst younger people.
22% had been, or expect to be, between 26 and 30, while a further 17% answered between 31 and 40.
None of those who participated said they had been, or thought they would be, over the age of 41 when coming to buy their first house.
