What is the most important aspect of building society membership to you?

There are many advantages to being a member of a building society.

Because esbs is a mutual organisation, it is effectively owned by its members.

This means they are entitled to having a direct say in how we operate, while the profits that we make are re-invested in the Society to improve the products and services on offer.

Furthermore, being part of a building society gives members access to better rates of saving and borrowing.

For our November poll, we asked people what it is that they value the most about building society membership.

17% of those who took part said that being part of an organisation that works for the interests of its members was the most important aspect.

While 8% agreed that being able to voice their opinions on important decisions was most valuable, a further 8% preferred having earnings reinvested into improved products and services.

For 67% of participants, receiving better saving and borrowing rates was the best reason to be a member of a building society.
