    Jacquie Lennox

    Mortgage Supervisor

How long have you been in your current role?

    Since December 2014

    Career background:

I’ve held various mortgages roles within the financial services sector for the past 20 years

Why did you join Earl Shilton Building Society?

I was looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to develop my career. When I was contacted about a new role within the company I jumped at the chance

What it is about working at the Society that you enjoy the most?

The people, the daily variety that comes with my job and also working for a smaller company, because you really feel that you can make a difference

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

Kettlebells, baking (especially cakes), walking with a large German Shepherd dog in tow and having family time

    Mortgage Services Administrator

Can you describe yourself in three words?

    Fun, Friendly and Sporty

What are your main job responsibilities?

I deal with mortgage applications as they come in and this means getting all of the necessary information for an applicant such as ID, proof of residency, bank statements, pay slips etc. I then do a credit search, check brokers on the FCA website and chosen solicitors on the Law Society website. I also go for employers or accountants references and once in a position to do so or upon request instruct valuations. At a later stage I will begin to do mortgage offers.

What are you/were you most looking forward to about your new role?

I was looking forward to challenging myself to learn an extremely varied role in which I didn’t have any experience. I was also excited to meet new people and begin a career in financial services because it was something I was very interested in. I want to gain more knowledge and experience in this industry, progress within the company and become a valued part of the team.

What was it about ESBS which appealed to you?

I worked as an Estate Agent previously and always asked the financial advisor about mortgages because it was something I wanted to learn and know more about. Although I didn’t have direct experience I thought I had many transferable skills. I also liked the sound of what the job role entailed and that is said open to the idea of someone without experience.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

The best advice I’ve been given would probably have to be ‘just be myself, listen and ask questions if I’m ever unsure of anything’.

    What motivates you at work?

I like to be kept busy and don’t mind using my own initiative, but having other people around and being part of a team helps motivate me. I’m also motivated by the fact that if I work hard I can become a great asset to the team and people are able to approach me for help or advice.

    Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy playing cricket, watching football and socialising with my friends.
