Career background:
I have worked in sales, marketing and underwriting for a number of financial services firms, including two other regional building societies
Why did you join esbs?
I was delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join a building society committed to its mutual values which is thriving due to the sound and prudent way in which it is being managed
What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?
The staff and dealing with intermediaries and customers. This is in addition to contributing to setting strategic objectives as part of the management team
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, DIY and running

Career background:
Before joining esbs I’d been in financial services for 23 years starting off as a cashier at TSB and working my way up through Premier banking and into Financial Advice. I’ve always got the biggest buzz from being able to help people and find solutions to complex problems. I then joined Coventry for Intermediaries and found a passion for mortgages and business development. After a short stint as a Telephone BDM I’ve managed teams and been an SME on various projects and initiatives. My final role there after just over 8 years was managing a team of Telephone BDM’s and BDM Support Specialists
Why did you join esbs?
The opportunity to do a role with national coverage where you can contribute directly to the future proposition of the business was too exciting to pass up. It’s very important to me that the company I work for shares the same values that I have. It’s also important they’re ambitious and have a team who are committed to providing the broker with the best service so that when a broker chooses us, the experience is one that enhances their relationship with the client
What it is about working at the Society that you enjoy the most?
I’m excited by the lending proposition and the case by case approach to underwriting. Having won awards for Self-Build mortgages, being able to consider modern methods of construction and being committed to First Time, Professional and Self Employed buyers, not forgetting those looking to borrow in later life, I have a huge amount I can help brokers with
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I have the usual Dad duties to attend to and I’m happy if my children are happy. My better half Victoria introduced me to the wonders of travel and now I’m always looking forward to the next holiday and new experiences. I try to run as much as I can and do a bit of mountain biking but not because I enjoy it (I do really); I like that it gives me calorie credits for extra donuts! My personal passion is motorsports, watching and taking part if I can. During Covid while we were all stuck indoors I discovered online SIM Racing and now I race in a League with people all over the world from the comfort of home. I had no idea of the amount of people I’d get to know from all sorts of backgrounds with some amazing stories to tell. Some might say it’s geeky and I’m too old but I love it
