Business Development and Marketing Manager How long have you been in your current role?
Since September 2014
Career background:
I have worked in sales, marketing and underwriting for a number of financial services firms, including two other regional building societies
Why did you join esbs?
I was delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join a building society committed to its mutual values which is thriving due to the sound and prudent way in which it is being managed
What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?
The staff and dealing with intermediaries and customers. This is in addition to contributing to setting strategic objectives as part of the management team
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, DIY and running

Business Development Manager How long have you been in your current role?
Since November 2024
Career background:
I have worked in numerous roles within the financial services Industry. From customer service roles, Mortgage advisor, Mortgage Broker and more recently a BDM with another Building Society
Why did you join esbs?
The opportunity to work for another mutual organisation that is committed to its members, where common sense is at the heart of every decision was the main attraction
Another thing that was important was the ability to be hands on with brokers, helping them with complex cases that they are struggling to find a home for
Meaning they can continue to grow their business as well as ours
What it is about working at the Society which you enjoy the most?
The people and that no two days are the same. Everyone is working towards the same goal and there is a real sense of team spirit
The ability to help brokers with their hardest cases and find a home for them is really satisfying. With all key decision makers in the same building an answer to a question or a decision on a case is often not far away
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I am Coventry City season ticket holder (for my sins) and I help out with my Son’s rugby team at the weekends
Most of my downtime will be spent with friends and family and you will most likely find me somewhere in Turkey most summer holidays

Career background:
My last two roles have been as a protection advisor for a mortgage broker and a quote advisor for a conveyancing law firm
In my latest role as a quote advisor for the conveyancing law firm, I was there for 2.5 years and thoroughly enjoyed my role helping clients through the buying and selling process
Why did you join esbs?
I joined esbs as I love the fact that every decision is made by an individual and not a computer. Nothing is straightforward these days so it’s great that a human being can find out the true background and scenario of each case
What it is about working at the Society that you enjoy the most?
I like the fact that esbs feels like one big family where everyone gets stuck in and supports each other
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I am a massive Leicester City fan, and it has definitely been a rollercoaster ride but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I love travelling and I will go anywhere where it’s blue skies and sunshine!
