Earl Shilton Building Society welcomes new Non-Executive Director

Leicestershire based building society esbs has recently welcomed Helen Stevens to the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Helen will also be part of the Society’s Risk and Compliance Committee.

She brings a wealth of experience to esbs with almost three decades in the financial sector, working for a variety of investment management firms, banks and asset servicing businesses.

Helen said, “All of the roles that I’ve enjoyed the most over the course of my career to date have had a strong customer focus – from client service roles in London and Sydney at the very beginning of my working life, to more recently leading an asset service and fund administration business as CEO, back in my home town of Nottingham.

“That’s what appealed to me about esbs. I am a strong supporter of the mutual model and believe that its commitment to delivering fairly priced, clearly defined, high quality financial products and services is especially important in the current economic climate. I also believe that it’s vital that trusted financial institutions continue to flourish outside the financial hubs of London and Edinburgh so that people can access services locally. Being from the East Midlands myself, the opportunity to join esbs was really exciting. I am already enjoying the collaborative approach that the team takes to problem solving and helping the Society to evolve.”

Outside of work, Helen is passionate about the arts.

“I am currently a trustee of Handmade – an inclusive theatre company, and of Epic Partners – a community engagement charity, which supports children and young people in Nottingham City. I love music and theatre and playing the piano – as long as there’s nobody within earshot!”

Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of esbs, said: “We are delighted to welcome Helen to the Board with her extensive experience and passion. We agree with Helen that the mutual model is incredibly important and look forward to working together to preserve that.”
