Mortgages for Over 65s – Do I Qualify?
Just because you may be approaching your later years does not mean your quality of life should suffer. Whether you wish to move closer to friends or family, wish to release some equity to treat loved ones or want to finally purchase that dream holiday home, age need not be a barrier!
Here at esbs we pride ourselves on treating you as the individual that you are and base our lending on your personal circumstances. If you are over the age of 65 and looking at a new mortgage, our later life mortgages may be the one for you.
Although many lenders are reluctant to offer mortgages to people approaching their twilight years, at esbs we are different. Despite being over 65 you can still get a mortgage. However, it is worth remembering that the length of your mortgage will be more restricted, but the term can be to age 85 however (or to age 80 if any element is interest only)
We can even use employed or self-employed income if it is feasible to do so, and/or state, private and workplace pension incomes. As long as you can prove that you can manage mortgage repayments, you will be considered for an over 65s mortgage.
If you are interested in a later in life mortgage, whether for yourself or on behalf of a relative, please get in touch with esbs today.
Here is a handy checklist of things you may need to provide during a later life mortgage call with esbs. If you have these details at hand it will help speed up the process.
- Any income details such as employed, self-employed rental income and pension income from state and private.
- Any outstanding credit commitments such as credit cards, store cards, or personal loans.
- Details of the property to be mortgaged
